The story

Rings like this turn up in your nani's box, still wrapped in the cloth they were put away in. A green step cut stone holds the middle, a ring of bright CZ closes around it, and fourteen flat uncut stones in blackened cups run right around the square.

The gold is oxidised into every recess and rubbed back bright on the raised work, so the face reads dark and lit at once. Three rows of CZ run down the split band, which is cut open at the back and adjusts to the finger. At this width the ring carries the hand on its own.
