The story

A mala that changes character halfway down. The upper length is a gold ball chain punctuated by navy faceted ovals and filigree balls; at the front it opens into three strands of small red crystal beads.

Bright gold over 925 sterling silver, closing with an S hook. Two quite different pieces of jewellery joined at the shoulder, which is what makes it read as long as it does.
