The story

The green stone is carved rather than faceted. Deep parallel grooves fan out from a central rib in a leaf pattern, cut by hand into a tapered kite of translucent stone, and the setting is left open behind it so light comes through from the back.

Around it runs a double border, about twenty flat uncut polki on the outside and a fine rail of white pave within, with one curved sweep of polki up the right side. At 3.9 by 2.11 cm it is tall and narrow, a slim shield that sits upright on a lapel or down a safa fold. Bright gold over 925 sterling silver, brooch pin at the back.
