The story

This is a wedding day piece and it behaves like one. Lakshmi sits in the lower register with peacocks either side of her, above a band of peacock feather links set with red stones. The carving is cut deep enough to hold real shadow.

Pink oval beads and seed pearl clusters weight the lower edge. It fastens with a hook and eye, and it wants a neckline that leaves the collarbone clear.
